Tomorrow starts our mission with a car trip to Chicago, then a Wednesday early morning flight to Port au Prince via Miami (once there we will unpack medical supplies and get ready for surgery on Thursday). I am surprised that I am feeling a little more anxious (but it is more of the feeling that I just want to get it started-kind of like when you study hard for a test and you just want to TAKE IT!) I am sure the meeting tonight at the Friends of Haiti office with all the participants will quell that anxiety and replace it with excitement.

Once again I am moved by the kindness and generosity of others. I received a phone call from a friend and co-worker whose daughter decided that her birthday party should benefit “Friends fo Haiti”, and received cash donations and they all made cards for the patients that we will treating. This apparently gave her friend the same idea and she did the same. They are coming to the meeting tonight to drop off their gifts!
